MNDOT says last winter was expensive

By Doug Barrett Jul 28, 2023 | 6:47 AM

It may be mid-summer but the Minnesota Department of Transportation has released the bill for plowing streets and highways this past winter. MNDOT says it cost taxpayers $174 million dollars to remove the 90 plus inches of snow that blanketed over 30,000 lane miles of highways. The price-tag also included the use of 260,380 tons of salt…14 million gallons of brine…and 36,439 tons of sand. MNDOT operates some 800 trucks across the state.
