By Doug Barrett Jul 21, 2023 | 6:55 AM

Federal disaster assistance has been approved for numerous Minnesota counties impacted by severe storms and flooding this past April.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency says federal funding is available to the state, eligible local and tribal governments and certain private nonprofit organizations for emergency work and repairs of facilities damaged by flooding. Among the counties impacted: Aitkin, Big Stone, Carlton, Chippewa, Clay, Grant, Houston, Kittson, Lac qui Parle, Lake of the Woods, Mahnomen, Marshall, Morrison, Norman, Pine, Pope, Renville, Roseau, St. Louis, Stevens, Swift, Traverse and Wilkin counties and the Prairie Island Indian Community.

Federal funding is also available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures statewide.
