The East Grand Forks City Council has voted to interview the two remaining finalists for the job of city administrator.
Earlier, two of the initial four finalists withdrew their names, and the remaining candidates are from in-house: Interim City Administrator and City Clerk Megan Nelson and East Grand Forks Park and Rec Superintendent Reid Huttunen.
At Wednesday’s meeting, the council heard various options, including re-posting the position, but Mayor Steve Gander said some of those options would “drag out” the process.
“I think we have two really good people who have made it clear that they are interested and I think our bigger problem is going to be which of these two very good people we would choose,” Gander said.
The council also voted to remove the six-month probationary period for the position.
The city is looking for a successor for David Murphy, who resigned in April to take a position in St. Joseph (MN).
