A medical waste company alleges in a lawsuit filed in North Dakota that a health system violated state law by delivering a human torso to the company instead of a crematorium. Monarch Waste Technologies disposes of Sanford Health’s medical waste, such as infectious and biohazardous material. Monarch has filed a lawsuit in Cass County, North Dakota, against Sanford and Healthcare Environmental Services, which Sanford oversees. It alleges the companies violated state law by delivering the body part as part of an effort to discredit Monarch Waste’s handling of the material. Sanford says it plans to file its own claims against Monarch.
