Tuition freeze approved for Minnesota State students

By Doug Barrett Jun 22, 2023 | 8:59 AM

College students in the Minnesota State system won’t see a tuition hike over the next two years.

The Board of Trustees of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities formally adopted the “freeze” as part of the annual budget on Wednesday.

The move is on top of the North Star Promise program signed into law this past legislative session that provides free tuition for students of families with annual incomes of less than $80,000 dollars – starting in 2025.

Minnesota State includes seven state universities and 26 community and technical colleges – including NCTC in East Grand Forks.
