Pilot seriously hurt in Westhope plane crash

A pilot from Westhope (ND) sustained serious injuries in the crash of a light plane this (Thu) afternoon in Bottineau County.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says the 48-year-old man was flying a 1965 Piper Pawnee.

Around 12:20 PM, the agricultural aircraft took off from New Hope Airport in Westhope, then crashed in a field northwest of the airport.

Troopers say the man was flown by by air ambulance to Trinity Hospital in Minot.

The crash is being investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration.
