The East Grand Forks City Council will request nearly $7.4 million dollars in Minnesota bonding to support improvements to recreational facilities.
Without discussion members last night (Tuesday) agreed to seek the state funding to support repairs to the Civic Center and VFW Arena.
If the state concurs the money would supplement a proposed one-percent sales tax “ask” of voters in November 2024. The total project cost exceeds $22 million dollars.
The final deadline for submissions to the 2024 bonding bill is July 17th.

Some tweaks are coming to the East Grand Forks recycling program. At issue is how glass is being accepted as a recyclable. Countrywide Sanitation has scheduled a meeting with the city the week of July 13th to spell out the changes. An August 1st date is being targeted for implementation.
