A 43-year old Minnesota man has been indicted for defrauding hundreds of jobseekers out of some $600,000 dollars in a fraud for hire scheme.
The U.S. Attorney’s office claims Charles Fields charged job applicants $3,000 to $5,000 dollars upfront with the promise that they would be hired as sales contractors to sell home security and water filtration systems. In order to conceal his fraud and to stave off scrutiny, Fields allegedly lulled his victims with bogus excuses as to why he was unable to fulfill his promises or to return their funds. In total, Fields defrauded at least 250 victims of at least $600,000.
He is scheduled to appear in U.S. District Court on June 30th.
