Hot weather is not always kind to concrete roads. The heat can cause cracks in the road to expand and pop causing a buckle. The issue is most common when temps top 90 degrees.
The overpass on University Avenue that stretches over I-29 is closed due to buckling concrete. The closure runs from 42nd Street to 47th.
According to the City of Grand Forks South Washington had a buckle on both north bound lanes along the 3200 blocks but traffic is still flowing.
There was also a pop on Belmont Road by Terrace Drive but the road is still passable.
