A lot of area residents spent the weekend cleaning out garages and attics in preparation for Spring Cleanup Week. This year’s program was delayed by the threat of flooding.
Residents are encouraged to place extra items out on berms and city crews will haul the trash away for free. In Grand Forks the city will follow the street maintenance schedule. There is no alley pickup this year.
In East Grand Forks cleanup will be on normal pickup days. The hazardous waste and electronic drop off day will be May 27th at the Public Works facility.
In recent years the program has resulted in crews picking up as much as 538 tons of junk and debris. Residents also directly deposited 72 tons into the landfill.
