Authorities say a Grand Forks man — who was injured when his pickup truck hit an Amtrak train — has been cited for failing to stop at a railroad crossing.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol says 60-year-old David Contreras sustained minor injuries Thursday morning when his eastbound pickup struck the lead engine of the northbound train on the 5500 block of 47th Avenue South.
It happened at 7:20 AM.
Contreras was transported by ambulance to Altru.
His passenger, a 52-year-old East Grand Forks man, was not hurt. Neither man was wearing a seat belt.
An Amtrak spokesman reported no injuries to the train crew or the 184 passengers on board.

A pickup truck driver sustained minor injuries this (Thu) morning when his vehicle collided with an Amtrak train outside Grand Forks.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, at 7:20 AM, the pickup was eastbound on the 5500 block of 47th Avenue South, when it hit the front side of the northbound train’s lead engine.
The pickup came to rest on the west side of the crossing.
Troopers say charges are pending against the pickup driver, a 60-year-old Grand Forks man, who was transported by ambulance to Altru.
A passenger in the vehicle, a 52-year-old East Grand Forks man, was not injured. Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt.
An Amtrak spokesman says there were no injuries to the train crew or the 184 passengers on board at the time.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating.
