East Grand Forks officials are looking for the stamp of approval from the city council to wipe a delinquent special assessment from the books due to lack of payment.
Interim City Administrator Megan Nelson informed the council last night (Tuesday) that the local post office has not made good on a 2015 street improvement project bill since 2019. Nelson says Polk County received notification from the U.S. Postal Service legal team that they were not required to pay “specials” unless directed by Congress.
USPS has paid just shy of $210 dollars to date. The amount uncollected totals $279.92 cents. The council is expected to approve the resolution at next week’s regular meeting.
