The Grand Forks council will hold off making additional changes to its public comment policy until soliciting citizen comments on the topic.
The council approved a series of changes regarding the policy back in August.
Council President Dana Sande says one additional change he would be in favor of is restricting comments to Grand Forks residents and business owners. Sande says an exception could be made for specific agenda items.
Council member Rebecca Osowski says she is not in favor of making any changes right now.
Council member Bret Weber says he’s hearing from a lot of people who feel the current policy needs tweaking. “I have heard comments of shock and even outrage about some of the things that have taken place during citizen comments.”
The issue of establishing…and enforcing…a code of conduct is also on the table. More discussion will take place at a future meeting.
