The City of Grand Forks is not the only governing board that may take a closer look at the citizen comment portion of meetings.
Grand Forks County is mulling over the idea of crafting a policy for how and when citizens can address the county commission in person. States Attorney Haley Wamstad told the board last week that the goal is to ensure meetings stay on track and follow an orderly process.
Commission Chair Bob Rost says it’s “unbelievable” what has happened at some Grand Forks City Council meetings.
Wamstad says the policy could include such things as time limits… restricting subject matter to agenda items…and criteria to address threats and or violence.
The commission is expected to discuss the issue further at a future meeting.
Meanwhile….The Grand Forks City Council will review its policy for citizen comments when it meetings tonight (Monday) as a Committee of the Whole.
