Planning for construction of the Career Impact Academy in Grand Forks continues to move through the cycles. The Planning and Zoning Commission last week gave final approval to the replat of the property sending it to the city council for one last review.
The CIA is intended to offer career programming to both high school and adult learners. Around $11 million dollars was raised locally for the academy’s construction.
Grand Forks School District Career and Technical Education Director Eric Ripley told P & Z members that additional state dollars will help offset rising construction costs. “At the 11th hour through the Office of Management and Budget there was an additional 30% allocation – and there was language for left over funding from other projects that could be redistributed in October.”
The CIA will be located near the intersection of North 42nd Street and Gateway Drive – and just south of what will be called Career Drive.
The Grand Forks Council will consider the site request May 15th.
