A consulting firm will soon be reviewing pay equity at the University of North Dakota.
According to UND’s Associate Vice President for Human Resources Peggy Varberg, “We’ve never done this at UND wholeheartedly like this, so I’m excited for the process.”
During a virtual Town Hall meeting with faculty and staff today (Wed), Varberg said UND is close to signing a deal with Chicago-based Huron Consulting Group.
Varberg said: “And then we will work with the consulting firm to see where we have disparities, what those disparities are, and then put a plan together to identify any gaps – why we have those gaps, whether it’s because of Title VII, gender, race, ethnicity, those kind of things — or if it’s because the market is wrong, the person is in the wrong job code, or they just simply are in the wrong space.”
Varberg said the cost of the study is being negotiated, but it’s expected to be between $360,000 and $380,000.
Varberg said the study is expected to take 17 weeks.
