Bemidji woman sentenced in fatal shooting

A Bemidji woman has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for her role in a 2019 murder and assault on the Red Lake Indian Reservation.

The U.S. Attorney’s office says 21-year old Alexia Gah Gi Gay Mary Cutbank and two other suspects entered a garage at a home where Daniel Johnson lived and fired multiple shots. Johnson suffered fatal injuries and a second victim was seriously injured.

Cutbank pleaded guilty to one count of aiding and abetting murder in the second degree and one count of aiding and abetting assault resulting in serious bodily injury.
