ND six year old killed riding a bike

A Watford City (ND) man has been charged with negligent homicide for the traffic death of a 6-year-old boy who was riding his bicycle in Watford City.

19-year-old Julian Montoya is charged in McKenzie County District Court in the death of Ian Matteo Garcia.

Garcia was struck and killed by a pickup driven by Montoya in the parking lot of an apartment building Saturday night.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports a pickup truck has struck and killed a 6-year-old as he rode his bicycle in the parking lot of a Watford City apartment complex. The accident occurred around 6:50 p.m. Saturday. The North Dakota Highway Patrol said a 19-year-old was driving the truck around a section of garages when he hit the boy. Authorities identified the driver as Julian Montoya of Watford City. He was not hurt in the crash. The NDHP continues to investigate.
