This week’s late winter storm closed state highways and portions of the Interstate system for over 24 hours in some cases.
North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum says he understands that people have a need to travel – but it’s important to do so safely. He says plow drivers have a big job trying to clear 106,000 miles of state…city…and township roads. “People forget the size of the state. North Dakota is the size of all six New England states. It’s almost to a mile…that’s the size of North Dakota.”
Burgum urges motorists to be patient as already this winter there have been 22 crashes involving a North Dakota snowplow. He says even more drivers have missed hitting a plow only to end up in the ditch.
