Three years after the World Health Organization declared a pandemic the North Dakota University System has disbanded its COVID-19 Task Force. The group was instrumental in monitoring and making recommendations designed to keep students…faculty…and staff safe from the infectious disease.
Chancellor Mark Hagerott called it a wild three years. Hagerott thanked task force and board members (Thursday) for how they handled the COVID situation. He says the decision to allow students back on campus was critical for both learning and retention. “We had some states that really shut down hard that are now – the shock waves are tremendous. One of those is next to us which is why there are huge incentive funds because enrollment dropped in some cases 50%. We have bucked the trend the past two years and are actually growing enrollment”
Board President Dr. Casey Ryan agreed with the move saying “It was time.”
