Don‘t expect a huge jump in enrollment in the Grand Forks school district any time soon. That was the gist of a report presented to the school board last night (Monday) from district demographer RSP and Associates.
Total enrollment is expected to peak at around 7,500 over the next five-years. The numbers are based in part on declining live births in Grand Forks County and out-migration of students exceeding in-migration.
Superintendent Terry Brenner says he’s concerned about the trend. “There is also some optimism that may not be in this report and some things that may be happening in and around the Grand Forks Air Force Base both in private industry and with the GFAFB.”
The district’s first week enrollment for the 2022-23 school year had 7,489 students hitting the books. The demographer’s report put the current student count at 7,395.
