$1.4M in grants awarded for MN school bus stop-arm cameras

Sixteen Minnesota schools and transportation companies are receiving grants to install bus stop-arm cameras to help keep students safe as they go to and from school.

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety’s Office of Traffic Safety announced $1.4 million in grants to change dangerous driving behaviors and protect kids.

The Bemidji School District will get a $67,000 grant. A Deer River bus company was awarded nearly $33,000. And the school district in Remer will receive nearly $30,000.

The aim is for drivers to obey the law … and stop for buses with flashing lights and stop arms extended. The cameras will help schools and law enforcement find the violators and hold them accountable.
