The Grand Forks Park District is one vote away from making major changes at Kraft Field. Bids on the grandstand renovation project came in a little over $2 million dollars on Thursday.
Executive Director George Hellyer says it’s a complete re-do of the whole facility – including demolition of the current structure. The features include: 220 permanent chair back seats…a press box…roof canopy…safety netting…concessions…restrooms…storage…player dressing area…cages…and a viewing platform. The bleacher portion of the bid still needs to be finalized.
Hellyer says project funding will come from a variety of sources. “Some ARPA dollars were available through the state that was $600,000 – that was the kick-start of it. We received $75,000 grant through Garrison Diversion. Blue Line is kicking in $150,000 towards the grandstand project. The renaming of the complex to Oxford Sports Complex – we will use the naming rights fund.”
The Park Board will review the bid package at their next meeting.
