A man and a woman from East Grand Forks face felony drug and child endangerment charges after authorities say the man’s two-year-old son apparently overdosed on an opiate.

Polk County Court documents say 25-year-old Taylor Paul and 24-year-old Samantha Ann Jacquemart were arrested Wednesday morning. Jacquemart is the boy’s stepmother.

Around 10:30 AM, East Grand Forks Police got a report of a boy choking at an apartment. They found the boy on the floor, unresponsive, with labored breathing. Emergency crews used Narcan to revive the boy.

Police say Jacquemart told them that she and Paul were addicted to Fentanyl…had used the drug about six hours earlier…and passed out.

While searching the apartment, police found 26 pills containing fentanyl… white powder that tested positive for fentanyl… along with marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

The apartment is within 300 feet of Sacred Heart school, so Paul and Jacquemart also face charges of possessing and selling drugs in a prohibited zone.
