GF school referendum set at $79 million

By Doug Barrett Mar 7, 2023 | 9:09 AM

Grand Forks voters will head to the polls May 16th to decide a $79 million dollar school bond referendum.

The school board set the dollar amount last night (Monday) after adding a safety and security component to a new Valley Middle School and central kitchen project.

The middle school and kitchen carry a $61 million dollar price-tag.  The safety-security measures will cost another $18 million dollars.

Board members opted to put all three projects under a single “yes” or “no” vote.

It’s estimated the $79 million dollar “ask” would cost the owner of a $100,000 dollar home around $96.93 cents over 20 years – or $22 dollars more than the stand-along Valley Middle School build.
