With the Fufeng project now history talks are underway between the attorney for the failed corn milling plant and the City of Grand Forks over the 300 acres of land purchased by the company.
In addition City Attorney Dan Gaustad says discussions continue over the termination of the development agreement with the China-based company. Gaustad told members of the city council last night that those talks will ramp up in the coming days.
City Administrator Todd Feland says the city has also received a petition for deannexation from property owners along the Highway 81 corridor. Those petitions are being reviewed.
The city council voted to scrap the controversial project after a top U.S. Air Force official cited national security concerns with locating the plant in close proximity to the GFAFB.
