MNA nurses at Sanford Bemidji plan to picket March 13

Members of the Minnesota Nurses Association at Bemidji’s Sanford Medical Center say they plan to picket on Monday, March 13, as negotiations continue on a new three-year contract.

The M-N-A says hospital operations will not be affected, as nurses will not  be walking off the job to picket.

According to the union, nurses are seeking a fair contract to help retain nurses to protect patient care at the hospital.

The M-N-A says executives have demanded concessions — including changes to paid time off for nurses. The union says both sides remain apart on pay increases.

The nurses say they are also seeking language in their new deal to protect them in case of a merger or other change of ownership over the facility. Sanford Health and M Health Fairview are planning to merge their health systems.

The M-N-A says 350 nurses work at the facility.
