A study designed to increase safety around the Phoenix Elementary School could cost upwards of $77,000 dollars.
The Grand Forks council is looking to enlist the services of Bolton & Menk to compile the engineering analysis. The study will include drone footage of pick-up and drop-off points…traffic counts…movements… as well as neighborhood input.
The firm was selected from a prequalified engineer’s list. Council member Rebecca Osowski questioned whether the study shouldn’t be put out for bid. “I don’t think there is a price that can be put on my children or anybody else’s children but we do have to be a little fiscally responsible.” Council member Kyle Kvamme says the safety study needs to be completed sooner rather than later.
The goal is to have the study results by August.
