EERC seeking additional state dollars

By Doug Barrett Feb 3, 2023 | 8:18 AM

A North Dakota Senate panel has agreed to increase state funding for the Energy and Environmental Research Center.

The Senate Appropriations Committee voted 14-zero (Thursday) to move the funding cap from $5 million to $10 million dollars.  The money comes from oil and gas revenues.  In addition Senate Bill 2161 eliminates a 2027 sunset provision.

Supporters say the extra money will enable the Grand Forks-based EERC to generate new research ideas and attract additional private funding.
