Cramer says right person authored Air Force letter

By Doug Barrett Feb 3, 2023 | 8:37 AM

U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer says the right person authored  the Air Force letter that was critical of the Fufeng project in Grand Forks says a lot.

Cramer says the reason Andrew Hunter – the assistant secretary for acquisition, technology and logistics – penned the draft is testimony to the future of the GFAFB.  “The most important person in the Air Force for Grand Forks right now is exactly that person because acquisition and technology screams Grand Forks Air Force Base.”

The letter called the proposed corn milling plant a threat to national security. As a result Grand Forks is dropping the project.  Cramer says the Air Force has great interest in the local base – and that’s a good thing.

The China-based Fufeng makes products for animal nutrition, the food and beverage industry, pharmaceuticals, health and wellness, oil and gas, and other industries. The Grand Forks site was to be its first U.S.-based manufacturing facility – and was expected to initially require 25 million bushels of corn annually.
