Authorities have identified the man who died during a standoff with police last week in Winsted (MN) as 50-year old Daniel Paul. The Winsted man died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Paul is accused of shooting two deputies in the central Minnesota town during the standoff. The McLeod County deputies were shot in their protective gear. Neither sustained significant injury.

The deputies went to the home to serve an arrest warrant. BCA crime scene personnel recovered two pistols and an assault rifle next to Paul’s body.

Winsted is about 50 miles (80 kilometers) west of Minneapolis.
