The Twins have traded the American League batting champion — 25-year-old infielder Luis Arraez – to the Miami Marlins for right-handed starting pitcher Pablo Lopez and two prospects – infielder Jose Salas and outfielder Byron Chourio.

In four years with the Twins, Arraez batted .314. Last season, he made the A-L All-Star team and hit .316 to win the A-L batting title. Arraez becomes the first player since Rod Carew (1978-79) — also traded from the Twins — to be dealt the offseason after winning a batting title, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

López, who will turn 27 in March, has a 3.94 ERA across five seasons  with the Marlins, and a 28-31 record. He has made 94 starts.
