The Grand Forks School District is still searching for a fix to Central High School’s swimming pool.
While the pool is in working shape moisture problems involving walls and ceilings have prevented its use for the past two years. The mitigation estimates top one-million dollars – a figure not yet budgeted.
As a stop gap measure swim teams have been utilizing the UND Hyslop pool which is slated to close in July 2024.
Superintendent Terry Brenner has floated two possible solutions: finance Central’s pool upgrade using a five-year municipal lease process…or consider an organization/philanthropist on naming rights for the pool.
The school board will be asked on Monday to weigh in on the next steps. Also in play is the possibility of a future Aquatics Center in Grand Forks.
