As part of the planning for a new Valley Middle School project the school board last night (Monday) approved a land swap deal with the Grand Forks Park District for the reconstruction site.
Under the plan the school district will trade 1.96 acres of land where the school now sits with 1.96 acres to the west – where two ball diamonds exist.
Once the school is built the diamonds would shift to the east.
The agreement will only be executed if a school referendum passes in the spring.
Park officials O-K’d the swap last month.

The Grand Forks School Board is finalizing the proposed list of facility improvements this summer. Those range from the Schroeder Middle School roof repair and air quality improvements in buildings to new signage at Central and Red River and Cushman Field replacement.
A combination of funds will be used to pay for the projects including building fund bond proceeds…ESSER dollars…insurance…and Altru sponsorship.
The Cushman Field resurfacing and turf replacement is estimated at $646,000 dollars.
