An inmate from the Missouri River Correctional Center is back in custody after walking away from the facility south of Bismarck last night (Thursday).
The North Dakota Patrol says Travis Tessaro was reported missing around 6:30 p.m. Troopers spotted Tessaro at a local gas station just before 10:00 p.m.
He was taken to the State Penitentiary and now faces escape charges. According to court records Tessaro was in the midst of a three-year sentence issued in May of 2021 for terrorizing and domestic violence.
Authorities say they do not believe he had any help in his escape.
