Natural gas pipeline to RRV stalled

By Doug Barrett Dec 20, 2022 | 7:50 AM

Another deadline has passed – and no companies have submitted proposals for a natural gas pipeline to bring gas from the Bakken to eastern North Dakota.

The Legislature set aside $150 million from the American Rescue Plan Act for help in building such a pipeline.

State Pipeline Authority Director Justin Kringstad says he wasn’t surprised by the lack of proposals.  “The biggest challenge remains lining up those end users and those users being able to commit to using the system.”

Kringstad says he will discuss next steps with the state’s Industrial Commission. He says the 2023 Legislature may also be asked to make some changes to the program.
