A planned strike by some 15,000 nurses in Minnesota slated for Sunday has been averted with the tentative approval of a three year contract.
Negotiators with the Minnesota Nurses Association say the deal calls for pay raises of 18% for workers in the Twin Citiies and 17% for nurses in the Twin ports.
Along with improved wages and staffing language, several tentative agreements include additional gains including workplace safety protections.
MNA First Vice President Chris Rubesch says the agreement is a critical step to address the chronic short-staffing and other corporate policies hurting patients and nurses at the bedside.
The planned walkout has been called off as nurses prepare to vote on the tentative agreements.
