Police have arrested a man on multiple charges after leading authorities on a chase from Grand Forks to East Grand Forks.
Grand Forks officers were sent to the 32nd Avenue South Walmart on a report of a vehicle driving on the sidewalk, then entering the parking lot.
As officers were en route, they were told that a male in a vehicle was at the 3000 block of Queens Court, where he allegedly threatened to shoot a victim. The suspect left the scene; the victim was not injured.
P-SAP (Public Safety Answering Point) then told officers that the suspect was at a Cenex gas station at 1970 32nd Avenue…where he entered the store and stole some items.
Officers were then told the suspect vehicle was in the nearby Hugo’s parking lot, driving erratically. Officers arrived, but the vehicle left the lot by driving over grass and sidewalk, then traveled eastbound in the westbound lanes on 32nd… heading towards South Washington Street.
Officers tried to stop the man on South Washington but the driver accelerated at high speed. The vehicle then crossed over into the southbound lanes of traffic while going northbound.
The pursuit was terminated in the interest of public safety.
A Grand Forks Sheriff’s deputy later saw the vehicle turning off North Washington Street, then heading east on Gateway Drive. The vehicle drove into East Grand Forks. E-G-F Police later saw the driver outside of the vehicle… and he was taken into custody.
The driver is identified as 28-year-old Kyle Tischler (address unknown).
He faces charges in Grand Forks County for reckless driving, fleeing, reckless endangerment, terrorizing and criminal mischief, among other counts.
Tischler was taken to Tri-County Corrections in Polk County, where he is confined.
