Funeral services were held Monday for Earl Strinden, the former North Dakota House majority leader and longtime head of UND’s Alumni Association, who died Oct. 18th at the age of 90.
Speaking at Atonement Lutheran Church in Fargo, Strinden’s son Jon said his father was a “man of action” who led by example.
“Dad led a life of service to his community, the state of North Dakota, to the University of North Dakota, to his many friends and most importantly, to his family,” Jon Strinden said. “Dad would often say that the strength of this nation is the family and he very much lived out those words.”
Jon Strinden added: “Dad, you will be missed, but what you have taught us will live on as we teach our children the values you instilled in us, and they are able to teach their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We will always strive to leave the wood pile higher.”
