Crookston gets some reports of discolored water

By Pat Sweeney Oct 20, 2022 | 3:37 PM

Crookston officials are receiving a few reports of discolored water in the city….after problems with a water main break earlier this week.

They say the discoloration is due to mineral buildup within the water main being dislodged from the abnormal pressure changes that occurred while repairing the transmission line.

According to the city, these minerals are typically found in well water…and officials say the water is safe for consumption. They say the minerals typically settle out within a few days.

Residents are asked to avoid doing laundry, if possible, as clothing could be stained.

The city asked residents to limit water use on Tuesday and Wednesday.
