At least one member of the Grand Forks County Board is urging the commission to hold discussions regarding the proposed Fufeng project.
Diane Knauf says she is concerned the corn milling plant could have a major impact on county investments moving forward.
Commission Chair Tom Falk suggested the meeting be delayed until after the Committee on Foreign Investment issues its finding on whether Fufeng poses a risk to national security.
Commissioner David Engen says the CFIUS report will likely play a major role in the future of the project.
The commission agreed to hold a special meeting on October 20th at 10:00 a.m. to discuss Fufeng.

Supporters of an interchange at Merrifield Road urged the Grand Forks County Commission to take a lead role in pushing the project forward.
They claim it’s a safety issue and would help route truck traffic away from other corridors like 32nd Avenue South.
Commissioner Bob Rost says he’s discussed the need at a recent meeting with the North Dakota DOT – but it won’t happen overnight. “They talked about Federal Highway would have to get involved. That bridge would have to be replaced….it’s not wide enough.”
Commission Chair Tom Falck questioned whether the interchange would compete with other large infrastructure project in the works like the 42nd Street underpass or an interchange at 47th.
No action was taken at this week’s meeting.
