December 15th is the new deadline on a pipeline to bring Bakken natural gas to the Red River Valley.
And oil industry officials say without it, oil production will go down.
Ron Ness is the president of the North Dakota Petroleum Council. He told a Legislative interim committee he’s working with potential customers in eastern North Dakota for that gas.
North Dakota Pipeline Authority executive director Justin Kringstad says without a demand for natural gas – and a pipeline to deliver it – it will cause oil companies to have to ratchet-back production, in order to meet the state’s flaring guidelines.
The state is offering $150 million to help build the pipeline.
