Plan to eventually demolish UND’s Hyslop advances

By Doug Barrett Sep 23, 2022 | 8:37 AM

A committee of the North Dakota Board of Higher Education has given the green light for UND to begin fundraising some $86.5 million dollars for phase one of a multi-phase project would create a science… engineering…and national security corridor on campus.

The initial work includes upgrades to the College of Engineering and Mines which has grown from 1,300 students in 2010 to over 2,100 students in 2022.

The science corridor is considered to be UND’s top capital priority and would utilize local and state dollars.

The plan also includes demolition of the Hyslop Sports Center and repurposing the site.  UND estimates design work could start in 2023.  The entire project will be broken into three phases with construction beginning in 2024 – with a completion date of 2028.

The Budget and Finance Committee approved a resolution in support of the plan this week.
