Blue Ribbon honors for Larimore

By Doug Barrett Sep 16, 2022 | 1:00 PM

The Larimore Elementary School is one of three in North Dakota to be designated as a Blue Ribbon School.

North Dakota Superintendent Kirsten Baesler says if you are a Blue Ribbon school it means the instruction the students are receiving is among the very best in the country.

The U.S. Department of Education named the first group of Blue Ribbon schools in 1983 – a year after the program was established.

Larimore Superintendent Steve Swiontek called the news “exciting.”  Principal Kylie Swanson termed it a welcome acknowledgement of the efforts of teachers…staff…students…and parents.

The other schools receiving the award:  Linton Public School and Roosevelt Elementary in Bismarck.

Forty-eight North Dakota schools have earned the Blue Ribbon honor since the program’s inception.  Five have been honored twice including Belmont/Phoenix Elementary in Grand Forks (1992 and 2005).
