Grand Forks school officials are hoping this will be the final day of early dismissal for five GF schools school buildings due to elevated heat index readings.
Temps are expected to climb into the mid-80’s again today (Thursday) prompting the district to send students at Lewis & Clark, Nathan Twining, Valley, Viking, and Wilder home at noon due to the lack of air conditioning in the buildings.
Elementary intramurals have been canceled for this week. Middle school football, soccer, and softball may have morning practices.
It’s the first time hot weather has impacted classroom learning in the district since 2013.
Friday’s forecast high is around 70 degrees.
