Memorial Village construction officially underway

With construction already underway local leaders took time today (Thursday) to officially break ground on the new Memorial Village project.

The five story building is going up on the site of the old Memorial Stadium. The first floor will house UND coaching staff…athletic administration…and student-athlete services. The top four floors will feature market rate apartments.

Among the event speakers was UND President Andy Armacost who says the public/private partnership is another step in a series of athletic transformations on campus. “ It’s another example of these public/private partnerships in which UND engages to keep our campus contemporary…vibrant…and exciting.”

Memorial Village LLC partner Steve Burian says the goal is to complete the construction in 2024. “We have already been moving dirt on the site, but this groundbreaking ceremony is a great opportunity to share our vision for the project.”

Memorial Stadium was razed last year after structural defects were discovered in the 94 year old building.

Developers were granted a PILOT…or property tax exemption…to help secure the $31.5 million dollar build
