GF continues to advance planning for Fufeng

By Doug Barrett Aug 23, 2022 | 7:57 AM

The Grand Forks council gave an initial thumbs up last night (Monday) to a resolution designed to help finance a series of needed infrastructure improvements for the proposed Fufeng project.
The money would target wastewater…sanitary sewer…lift stations… storm water collection…and ponds.
City Administrator Todd Feland says a number of state and federal programs are available at below-market interest rates.

The council also received an update on the next phase of improvements to the wastewater treatment facility. Engineering fees for preliminary design, final design, and bidding phase services total $5.1 million dollars. The estimated total construction cost is $58 million.

Cities Area Transit received some good news this week on the second phase of a building remodel and rehab project at the bus facility. A federal capital projects grant has been secured in the amount of $7.76 million dollars. This grant is a 90/10 federal split leaving the local share at $863,194 dollars. The Public Transportation building was completed in 1983.
