Xcel crews stay busy in GF

By Doug Barrett Aug 16, 2022 | 1:38 PM

It was a busy morning for Xcel Energy teams in Grand Forks.

Line crews responded to a series electrical outages impacting southern portions of the city.  At one point the Xcel outage page said over 2800 customers were left in the dark – many along south Columbia Road and 32nd Avenue South.  Power was fully restored about two hours later.

A natural gas line was damaged on the UND campus shortly after 11:00 a.m.  The line was located near O’Kelly Hall and the Law School.  The area was blocked off until the line was shut down.  There were no injuries.  The all-clear was issued about an hour later.
