North Dakota & Novavax COVID-19 vaccine

By Doug Barrett Jul 26, 2022 | 8:24 AM

A CDC panel has recommended approval of a COVID vaccine that may appeal to Americans who avoided getting the earlier shots.

The newly US-approved NOVAVAX two-shot COVID vaccine is different from the others available because it doesn’t use mRNA to trick the body into creating parts of the virus that triggers the immune system. Many Americans were reluctant to take an mRNA vaccine despite doctors saying it is safe.

A limited supply of NOVAVAX vaccine has been purchased for use in the United States. North Dakota Health officials said today (Monday) they will receive a one-time allocation of 7,800 doses. Doses will be available in the state later this week.

More than 64% of adults in North Dakota have started their COVID-19 vaccine series.
