The Grand Forks council chambers would get a make-over under the proposed 2023 operating budget.
The project would be internally financed through the public building fund. IT Director Adam Jonasson says preliminary discussions with JLG Architects puts the remodel in the neighborhood of $1.4 million dollars. “It would better utilize the space…increases seating and view lines…centers the room in a way where we can have monitors behind you (council) and let in natural light.”
The upgrades would also bring the third floor bathrooms into compliance for size code specifications. Jonasson says in addition to new furnishings and layout – improvements in technology and security are being planned.
Final budget approval is not expected until September 19th.
